National Library of Mongolia Receives Facsimile Editions of Skaryna`s Books
On 30 May 2018, the National Library of Mongolia was honored to welcome His Excellency Stanislaw Chepurnoi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Mongolia, and his staff for a book donation ceremony at the Library Museum. The Ambassador, on behalf of National Library of Belarus, donated a facsimile edition of 21 volumes entitled "Book heritage of Francysk Skaryna” to Ms. Ichinkhorloo, the Director of the National Library of Mongolia. Ambassador Chepurnoi emphasized the significance of Skaryna's legacy in the history of Belarus and the importance of developing cultural ties between countries. In his words, "This event could be the beginning of fruitful cooperation between two national libraries”.
Director Ichinkhorloo, in her turn, expressed her sincere gratitude to His Excellency and the National Library of Belarus for the generous gesture and said that the books would enrich the European Book Collection of the Library considerably.
Print reproductions of the works of Skaryna, a 15th century Belarusian humanist, have become one of the highlights of large-scale celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing.
