Joint restoration of paper-based documentary heritage was carried out.
The Documentary Heritage Information and Research Department of the National Library of Mongolia is conducting restoration, research, and analysis of paper-based documentary heritage in collaboration with professional conservators and chemists specializing in cultural heritage preservation from Japan, the United States, and Austria.
Over the past three years, Dr. Kentaro Obayashi—a professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design and a cultural heritage conservator—and Dr. D. Otgon have been working alongside conservators from the National Library of Mongolia to identify paper-based heritage materials, assess their condition, and carry out restoration work.
It is essential to systematically introduce scientific breakthroughs and advanced technologies into cultural heritage preservation and restoration activities, while continuously improving methodologies.
