The book "Woodblocks at the National Library of Mongolia" has been launched.
The book *Woodblocks at the National Library of Mongolia* was launched during the international academic conference titled "Woodblock Heritage: Registration, Preservation, and Accessibility." As part of the comprehensive cataloging of the woodblocks held in the National Library of Mongolia’s collection, the library’s researchers and librarians selected 108 sample blocks to showcase the Mongolian woodblock printing heritage and introduce these items into academic discourse. They categorized the selected blocks—classifying them into groups such as text blocks, mantra blocks, illustrated blocks, and ritual blocks—and compiled them into an illustrated album.
B. Ichinkhorloo, Director of the National Library, emphasized that this book—which presents a curated selection of the library's woodblock heritage for the first time—will make a significant contribution to raising public awareness of these precious historical, cultural, and artistic treasures and to facilitating their future study and research. B. Ichinkhorloo, Director of the National Library of Mongolia, presented copies of the newly published work to the team members involved in its creation; to the international co-organizers and participating foreign institutions—including the Institute of Korean Studies, Vietnam National University, Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), and Kyoto University (Japan); and to representatives of domestic organizations attending the conference—including the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, the National Center for Cultural Heritage, the Children's Central Library, the Institute of Language and Literature of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the American Center for Mongolian Studies, the Mongolian Library Consortium, Zuunkhuree Dashchoilin Monastery, the Jud Datsan of Gandantegchenlin Monastery, and the School of Fine Arts at the Mongolian University of Culture and Arts.
